The Dallas County H.O.P.E.S. Program allows families to access a variety of preventative services in order to promote Healthy Outcomes through Prevention and Early Support. All programs and services associated with Dallas County H.O.P.E.S. programs are free of charge. Family Care Connection offers home visiting using the Parents as Teachers (PAT) birth to three years’ curriculum. PAT is grounded in the belief that parents are their children’s first teacher and the home, a child’s first classroom. PAT helps parents give their children the best possible start in life.
Parkland Health and Hospital System offers Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) services to improve the health and social skills of Medicaid eligible first-time mothers and their babies. Through this free program, a Registered Nurse Home Visitor visits the first-time mother’s home early in pregnancy and works one-on-one with the mother.
Family Compass offers Triple P parenting classes/seminars as well as other Family Support services within the community. Classes and seminars will provide parents with strategies and helpful tools to improve and encourage positive child behaviors and build positive relationships between parents and children.
Parent/Child Education & Other Resources
ChildCareGroup connects families to programs and services through Parent Navigators. The Parent Navigators work with clinics, organizations and other agencies to refer mothers to community resources. Special consideration is given to those mothers who have had no prenatal care, are teen parents, and have low levels of family support.
AVANCE-Dallas offers parent-child education programs and individualized Case Management to eligible families based on a needs assessment. Through this parent-child education program, parents transform their homes into lifelong learning labs to prepare their children for success in school. Parents also receive training and experience.

Injury Prevention Center promotes prevention of Shaken Baby Syndrome and abusive head trauma by providing health education to families of newborns at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Parents are provided with information to help them understand normal infant development and positive methods to cope with crying.
